Hey y'all!!

So this is my attempt at starting a blog. I am certainly no expert on blogging or on any of the topics I hope to cover. However, these past few weeks, I have really felt God's calling to share my experiences as I go through college. More specifically, to share the everyday battles of a Christian at a secular school.

If you don't know already, my name is Emily and I am currently a freshman at The University of Mississippi, or as it is more affectionately known, Ole Miss. I am also a pastor's kid (that's what the "PK" stands for). Needless to say, most people were not openly encouraging me or expecting me to attend one of the most infamous party colleges (that's what the "PC" stands for). In fact, it seemed like most discouraged it. I was expected to do the "pastor's kid thing" and go to a Christian Bible college. Although, I had nor have, anything against this concept, I just never considered it the right thing for me. The way I see it, if all the Christian students choose to go to the Christian schools, then who do we have representing Christ in one of the places that needs it most, the secular schools. There are people called to both of these options, but I have always had this still small voice - the Holy Spirit - calling me towards a secular school. I considered many options and prayed a lot to determine which university I would attend. The prayer and even the provisions of finances led me to Ole Miss.

I began school roughly a month ago and if I'm being completely honest, it's been tough. I knew there would be difficulties, but I don't know, I guess I didn't expect them to hit as quick or as hard as they did. Thankfully, the Lord is beginning to show himself through these struggles and is teaching me soooooooo much. My goal for this blog is to shed some light on some common struggles and then hopefully lessons I've learned and knowledge I've gained along the way.

P.S. I want to thank everyone who supported and encouraged me to start this blog. And I would love and appreciate any advice or comments on what you think or even some topics you would like me to talk about!!

Stay tuned,

Emily ♡
